Douglas A. Buxbaum graduated in 1980 from the University of Montana School of Law. In 1992, he established what has evolved into the plaintiff’s firm of Buxbaum, Daue, & Fitzpatrick. Prior to that, Doug was a partner at the Law Firm of Poore, Roth and Robinson. Mr. Buxbaum specializes in medical malpractice, product liability and serious personal injury cases; he has developed a subspecialty in catastrophic birth injury and neonatal issues. Buxbaum has been involved in some of Montana’s largest medical negligence and wrongful death cases. He also has extensive experience with Federal tort claims practice arising out of substandard health care to recipients of public health care. Doug is a frequent speaker and lecturer in continuing legal education. Buxbaum is listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America and is a member of the America andMontana bar associations and Montana Trial Lawyers Association. He served on MTLA’s Board of Directors from 1997-2003.

Sydney E. McKenna graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1988 and has been practicing in Missoula since then. She is a partner in the firm of McKenna & Starin, emphasizing personal injury, workers’ compensation and insurance law. A specialist in workers’ compensation, Ms. McKenna’s notable caseStratemeyer v. Lincoln County ultimately succeeded in challenging the exclusive remedy rule of the Workers’ Compensation Act. She is a member of the American Association for Justice and serves ex-officio on the Board of Directors of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. McKenna is the 2012 recipient of MTLA’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.

James P. Molloy earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Montana and currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Steve Bullock. Mr. Molloy graduated summa cum laude from Notre Dame Law School in 1984 and subsequently clerked on the D.C. Circuit. He has practiced in Oregon and Montana. Jim had a civil litigation practice in Helena until joining the Attorney General's office as Chief of Consumer Protection in the fall of 2009. Molloy served on MTLA’s Board of Directors from 1995 until 2009. He and his wife, Casey, have three grown children, Conor, Seamus, and Caitlin.

Prof. Gregory S. Munro regularly researches and writes the quarterly Insurance Consumer Counsel’s Column for Trial Trends. Prof. Munro has published articles, a book and book chapters on topics of insurance, torts, medical-legal and legal education. He teaches Insurance Law, Trial Practice and Torts at the University of Montana School of Law where he is Associate Dean and Director of Professional Skills. He has also taught Pretrial Advocacy and Remedies and co-coached the law school’s national championship Trial Team from 1989 until 1999. He regularly teaches CLE for organizations of lawyers, judges and law professors. Munro is a past president and board member of MTLA. He serves on the Montana State Uniform District Court Rules Committee. He practiced plaintiff’s civil litigation in Billings for thirteen years before joining the UM School of Law in 1988.

David R. Paoli was a member of the Board of Regents of the Montana University System during law school. After graduating with honors in 1986 from the University of Montana School of Law, he was a law clerk to Judge Jack D. Shanstrom, United States District Court, District of Montana. While working for Judge Shanstrom, he served on the Montana Human Rights Commission. After practicing personal injury law in Billings for three years, David opened his own plaintiffs’ civil litigation practice in 1992. He moved his offices to Missoula in 1993. He has represented individuals and small businesses from across the state of Montana and the West in cases involving wrongful death, FELA, personal injuries, insurance bad faith, products liability, medical negligence, and bank bad faith. David was elected to the Montana Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) Board of Directors in 1990 and served as MTLA president in 1999-2000. He served on the ATLA (now AAJ) Board of Governors from 1995-1997. He was the 1992 Recipient of the MTLA Public Service Award. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. In 2011 the Montana Trial Lawyers Association recognized him as Trial Lawyer of the Year. David has previously served as Chairman of the United States Magistrate Judge Selection Committee and as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Most recently he taught the products liability class at the Law School. |

Justin R. Starin graduated from the University of Montana in 1994 with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. He graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1999. Justin clerked at the Montana Supreme Court and at the First Judicial District Court in Helena, Montana. Since then, Justin has engaged in private practice in both Helena and Missoula, Montana. He currently is a partner in the firm of McKenna & Starin, emphasizing personal injury, workers' compensation and insurance law. |

James T. Towe is from Billings, Montana. He attended the University of Montana School of Law, earning his law degree in 1994. He then clerked for the Honorable Justice Terry Trieweiler. His private practice began as an associate attorney for Thueson & Lamb in Helena. He also worked for Milodragovich, Dale, Steinbrenner & Binney, before opening Towe Law Offices in Missoula in July of 2002. He has a general personal injury practice and represents plaintiffs primarily in FELA, railroad liability, workplace safety, and insurance dispute cases. He has authored an article regarding potential remedies for unlawful IRS conduct that was published in the Montana Law Review and republished by The Monthly Digest of Tax Articles in New York. Jamie and his wife Kim, daughter Shelby, son Evan, and twin sons Aidan and Carson, live in Missoula. Jamie has served on the MTLA Board of Directors since 2008-09 and currently serves as President. |
