Speaker Bios  
Sen. Anders Blewett graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 2003 with a degree in Government.  He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 2007.  Sen. Blewett is an associate at the law firm of Hoyt and Blewett PLLC, in Great Falls where his practice focuses on personal injury, products liability, and insurance litigation.  He served one term in the Montana House of Representatives in 2009 and is currently a member of the Montana Senate where he serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Hon. Justice Patricia Cotter graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 1977, after which she became licensed to practice law in Indiana. After practicing law in South Bend for a number of years, she and her husband Michael moved to Montana in 1983, and began practicing law in Great Falls in 1984 with John Hoyt. In 1985, they established the law firm of Cotter & Cotter. Justice Cotter was twice honored with MTLA’s Public Service Award, and she received the group’s Appellate Advocacy Award in 1999, after chairing the Amicus Curiae committee for seven years. From 1996 to 1998, she served as chair of Montana’s lawyer representatives to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. In 2006, Justice Cotter was presented with the Edward C. Alexander Award for distinguished legal service and professionalism by the Cascade County Bar Association. On November 7, 2000, Justice Cotter won election to the Montana Supreme Court and was re-elected in November, 2008.

Sherri Davidoff is a principal and Senior Security Consultant at LMG Security. She has over a dozen years of experience as an information security professional, specializing in digital forensics, security awareness training, penetration testing and web security assessments.  She is the co-author of the textbook "Network Forensics: Tracking Hackers Through Cyberspace" (Prentice Hall, 2012). Sherri is a GIAC-certified forensic examiner (GCFA) and penetration tester (GPEN), and holds her degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT. Davidoff's firm, LMG Security, provides assistance to attorneys in developing and implementing forensic digital evidence strategies.

Hon. Ray J. Dayton is a 1978 High Honors graduate of Montana State University and a 1982 Honors graduate from the University of Montana School of Law. He commenced his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Hon. W. D. Murray in the U.S. District Court, District of Montana. He engaged in the general practice of law from 1984 through 2006, emphasizing personal injury litigation. Judge Dayton was elected to the bench and commenced his judicial service on January 2, 2007. He was re-elected in 2012. Judge Dayton was a member of the Sentence Review Division of the Montana Supreme Court from 2010 through 2012.

John C. Doubek III earned his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 1976 and his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Carroll College in 1973. Mr. Doubek is a partner in the firm of Doubek, Pyfer & Fox which emphasizes personal injury, products liability, insurance and medical malpractice cases. John has taken over 100 cases to jury trial and has practiced before ICC, PSC, FERC and CAB. Doubek teaches business law at Carroll College. He is a Supporter member of Montana Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the American Association for Justice.

Hon. Justice Laurie McKinnon is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and began practicing law in 1987, handling a wide variety of civil and criminal litigation. She has served as a prosecutor in Glacier and Teton County Attorney’s Office and the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office in Maryland. Justice McKinnon served as District Judge of the Ninth Judicial District Court for six years. In 2010, she was awarded Judge of the Year by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Montana for her work in cases involving abused and neglected children. She serves on the District Court Performance Measurement Advisory Committee to the Montana Supreme Court, the Judicial Education Committee, the Justice Initiatives Committee, and is a member of the District Drug Court Judges. Justice McKinnon was elected to the Montana Supreme Court in November 2012.

Hon. James P. Reynolds has served as a First Judicial District Court Judge since January, 2011. Judge Reynolds earned his law degree with honors in 1978 from University of Montana School of Law and clerked for Hon. Justice Gene B. Daly. In July 1979, Judge Reynolds opened his own private practice in Helena, which eventually became Reynolds, Motl & Sherwood Law Offices. Judge Reynolds was in private practice in Helena for 31 years focusing on constitutional litigation, employment disputes and family law. Judge Reynolds is the recipient of numerous awards including MTLA’s Appellate Advocacy Award, Disability Rights Montana’s Courage Award, and the Montana Freedom of Information Hotline’s Montana Free Press Award.

Hon. Jeffrey M. Sherlock graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1975. Prior to election to the bench in 1988, Judge Sherlock was in private practice and Helena City Attorney. He was re-elected in 1994, 2000, 2006, and 2012. Judge Sherlock currently serves as the Head Water Judge for the Upper Missouri River and on the Commission on the Rules of Evidence.

Trevor Uffelman graduated from law school in 2004 and immediately went to work defending FELA and various types of environmental cases. From there his practice developed into a broad civil defense practice. He currently practices with the Drake Law Firm in Helena. In order to maintain a healthy perspective, Trevor also devotes a portion of his practice to plaintiffs’ personal injury and employment discrimination cases. Trevor counts among his most satisfying professional achievements the results he has achieved representing individuals.
